What Is Clean Access?
In late Summer 2005, Information Technology Servuces implemented Clean Access in the Residence Hall Network. Clean Access is network security package that helps residents maintain up-to-date software patches, and anti-virus definitions on their computers. The Clean Access system ensures your security and enhances network performance by reducing the number of systems that are vulnerable to viruses and other malicious software.
Thanks in large part to last year's deployment of Clean Access, incidents of network interruptions within the residence hall network dropped drastically from previous years. Clean Access Agent checks certain security settings on your Windows PC to make sure that your system is up-to-date with required security patches and report this status to the server. No information about you is sent to the server. You must use Clean Access Agent for your Microsoft Windows PC in order to access the residence hall network. Currently the required security settings include: Anti-virus software, critical OS patches and updates. Clean Access does nothing other than verify the presence of the required security settings on your PC. It is not a monitoring software.
